Film agencies in the UK

The notoriously unstable British film scene has recently started to feel the benefits of the state-funded Film Council, but productions from the first set of hand-outs have yet to prove their worth.

In April 2000 responsibility for the various support activities for filmmaking provided by the British government were shifted under the single umbrella of the Film Council. The formation of this body is intended to ensure that the industry in Britain is sustainable and can flourish in the future. Amongst other things, the council provides funding and looks after the strategic direction of filmmaking in Britain.

The following organisations specialise in helping overseas companies shoot in Britain.
